About Us

Garcia's South of the Border Cantina & Grill was actually a dream that began many years ago when (a young) Alfonso Cisneros and (a younger) Frankie Garcia became friends as Frankie worked with his Dad, Frank Sr., in his very well known Mexican restaurant, La Casa Garcia, in Anaheim, CA. Alfonso's primary career at that time was as a LAPD Police Officer. Now retired, he continues to serve as a high-ranking Reserve Officer. Frankie was in the kitchen with his Dad and family at a very early age and was destined to be successful in the restaurant business.

After working many years with his Dad, Frankie and Alfonso invested in a very successful food truck and catering business, Garcia Shack Catering. Not long after the food truck venture, Frankie opened his first restaurant, La Casita in Orange, CA. Using his Dad’s recipes with his own twist, he began building his own renowned reputation. This reputation quickly had Alfonso and Frankie planning their next adventure. They both wanted a high end, family restaurant and soon opened Garcia's South of the Border Cantina & Grill in the SOCO District of Fullerton, CA. Prior to officially opening, Frankie and his Executive Chef, Marco Colin, spent 3 months in the kitchen together blending and refining their menus. The result of which speaks very well of their talent.

The Garcia Family has given back to the community for years. So, when the opening of Garcia’s SOTBCG was delayed due to the Covid pandemic, they followed in Frank Sr.’s footsteps and donated thousands of meals to law enforcement, fire fighters, local hospitals, and first responders of all kinds throughout Orange County.

Alfonso and Frankie welcome you to their family owned, Family Restaurant and know, with confidence, that your visit will be an enjoyable experience and will make you want to return many times in the future.

It's an honor to have you here with us!
